Windows Update Not Working On Fresh Xp Install

This is a fresh installation of Windows XP SP3 from our Volume License Installation. -I've installed .NET Framework 4.0. -Installed Internet Explorer 7.0 -Install all device drivers. -Installed all automatic updates It appears to me that Microsoft has obviously deliberately screwed its users who might need to reinstall their Windows XP that they paid for. I then just went to Automatic Updates in Control Panel, turned it off and clicked Apply, then turned it back on. Not on that PC at the moment so cant check the name.

At LEAST it starts out by creating a Restore Point!! Linux doesn't run on it either. No, create an account now. And can't tweak much more than their screensavers (most of which they've downloaded from malware sites). So yeah, I'd recommend that 99% stick with the most up to date OS.

First thing you need to do is make sure your Automatic Updates is set to off.. The description advises this is not for updating a single computer but I read the specs, it says it is compatable with XP Home and Pro Editions so I downloaded it. I've seen it posted as advice many times but I never tried it myself. I'll be sure to let everyone know if/when that "avalanche of doom" finally hits me... Sadly, I don't really know the answer.
