Windows Search Not Working Xp Sp3
I tried installing the srchasst file too, no luck.When I hit the search button in Explorer it pauses for a good 8 seconds like it's trying to find something and can't. The only good thing is that I have the full-install cd of sp3 now. However, if you've installed SP1/SP2 or SP3 separately after installing Windows XP, you need to point to the "%windir%\ServicePackFiles\i386" folder when prompted.Search Companion is reinstalled now. Can you pinpoint when this occurred and whether any updates were installed beforehand? Obviously beware of this damn bug, whatever it may be. Both do nothing when clicked (at all, not even an hour glass or anything).

that also did not fix the problem... Just want to be polite and follow the rules.Hope I find an answer. It has been going on for quite some time. The taskbar also locks up and the only way to get the taskbar responding is to end process on explorer.exe and due a new task for it (manually).
