but this is about as informative as an I-Ching hexagram... The best way to do this is with Internet Explorer on the computer with the problem. BITS was there, then I ran the tool several times, it found some problems & said it fixed a few of them, then I rebooted & looked at the processes & Your amazing and brilliant solution had me fixed in less than 5 minutes.

Using the site is easy and fun. The screen saver was running (after I wiggled the mouse to turn the monitor back on), but I couldn't get the system to come alive. I'm going to have to keep on it to see how long the updates keep coming, but I WILL be back to report progress.

Anyway, Auto Update is in one of its phases where it's Automatically finding updates 2 at a time for me to install.
