While still in safe mode I turned on the automatic updates and rebooted into normal mode. Blue Stop Screen 0x0000007B. I wiped out my BITS Service completely. I searched for, found, downloaded & ran 10 different MS "Fix it" apps & some things were fixed, but MANY were not.

I tried norwegian 's idea but there was nothing in the C:\Windows\Software Distribution folder. Right now my system is installing updates & then it will power itself off. It's an AMD CPU, ECS Motherboard, 4GB RAM, 1GB Hitachi HD, a 400Watt PSU & a 1Gb/s NIC. Pretty slow going.
