If you're online, then the issue might be caused by conflicts with your settings in Windows InternetExplorer. Open notepad 2. I did some searches that told me to manually download & installed Service Pack 3 for XP. Windows Update Xp Sp3 Rename the SoftwareDistribution sub-folder in the C:\Windows folder3.

BITS was there, then I ran the tool several times, it found some problems & said it fixed a few of them, then I rebooted & looked at the processes & They all downloaded without a hitch, but fail on installation.Even Automatic Updates tell me that new updates are ready to install.
