WMP had went south. Microsoft has no online repair facility and I think seeing as this seems to be a frequent problem with the player as shown by the following link: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?p=3007333 something needs to Windows Media Player For Vista Hope this resolves the problems. I am attempting to help a friend who is not very computer savy. It claims folders have already been deleted though it gives no indication of what.
