Ie 10 On Desktop Ui Does Not Work

Today I clocked the Internet Explorer tile on the live tile screen and it will only open once it had flicked to desktop mode. Simply uninstalling the program will not work. I actually find it in programs in other areas but when pulling up the window to choose default browser, it does not appear.

  6. Super happy it worked and straight forward as well!!
  7. Does the computer use an MS account or local/domain?
  8. That helped a lot.
  9. The settings for both the App and the desktop IE are managed in the internet options, so if by this point one works but the other doesnt one is probably corrupted.

MS adds all kinds of new options to screens I thought I knew well for years. You can do that by going to the Start Screen and typing Default Programs. Go to "Programs" tab and click on "Set associations" button. So double check your screen resolution if IE doesn't open when you click on its tile in Start Screen.

Join Now Not sure what caused this, the laptop was just handed to me to fix.  From the desktop everything is fine.  From the Metro / Tile screen though, IE 10 Sep 18, 2013 at 10:39 UTC IITM5 wrote: http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/379950-windows-8-tile-menu-issue   There may be some helpful posts in that thread. I've had the same problem since July when I took my laptop on holiday with me to Lanzarote from the UK. adam thanks for your kindness, vishal. Internet Explorer is one of other programs. Internet Explorer will not run as an App from the Start screen on Windows 8 Posted by Jonathan Brasseur Problem When using Windows 8 you can no longer use Internet Explorer

IE (Internet Explorer) tile reappeared 3. If you want to get back the immersive IE 10 full-screen metro app, you will have to set IE 10 as the default web browser on your Windows 8 machine. At last click on OK button and it'll fix the problem. Full reboot was done.  I'll get back to it tomorrow afternoon and try CCleaner and anything else people may suggest by then. 0 Ghost Chili OP Doughnut Destroyer

Go to "Programs" tab and click on "Set associations" button. 3. Like Youtube, rather than it being saved in a bookmarks folder it's a tile I can click on directly from my Metro Homepage.. I tried searching for it but it doesn't come up on searches for the computer but it is still loaded on the computer because it is in desktop mode. It has never done this before and I have tried everything I can think of to get it to go back to how it was before.

rob Seems like Microsoft are shooting themselves in the foot with this. No, the whole issue was that they wanted IE to run from the tile / start / metro screen.  IE works fine from the desktop so there's no reason to add Cause This happens when you make an alternative Internet browser your default browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari etc) causing the icon on the Start screen to be a shortcut and not How do I fix that?

It has never done this before and I have tried everything I can think of to get it to go back to how it was... This is definitely not very intuitive and will confuse people even more once they start using Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10. I thought I was doing something wrong, but turns out it's just bad corporative practice. if a web designer or developer wants to check their code in IE Metro, they're FORCED to have IE as default?
